This week’s stitch in Sharon B’s Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge is Cretan Stitch. Here’s how I applied it to one of my crazy quilt blocks:
You can see that on two seams I augmented it with detached chain stitches and straight stitches. On the center seam I tried variations of closed Cretan stitch. On the purple seam I stacked them, going over the seam three times with variegated thread. On the last seam, I used open Cretan stitch, and then laced it twice with other shades of blue.
This week, on Sharon B’s blog, Pintangle, The Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge continues, with feather stitch. This is one of my favorite stitches, and I have several ideas for playing with it, but on this block, I just got into covering it with feather stitch:
This week’s challenge is buttonhole stitch. You can see Sharon’s post about it here: Take a Stitch Tuesday week 2 – Pin Tangle – Pin Tangle.
Here’s what I did with it:
i don’t feel as if I got as inspired with this stitch as I sometimes do, but I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Sharon B of Pin Tangle has revived her Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge for 2012. You can find the overall information about the challenge here: Take a Stitch Tuesday 2012 Challenge Information page – Challenges – Pin Tangle.
This week’s stitch is Fly Stitch: http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2012/1/3/take-a-stitch-tuesday-week-1.html
Since I still have a big stack of crazy quilt blocks to embellish, I’m using them as the ground on which I play with each week’s stitch. Here’s crazy quilt block #36:
On the red section of the block, I made a double wheel of fly stitches, while on the seams, I stacked them in various ways, both vertically and horizontally.
